Maria brings decades of accounting and office administration experience in multiple industries to LabKey’s business team, where she focuses on getting the numbers right for client invoicing and financial reports. She worked for many years as a freelancer, setting up accounting systems for new and existing small businesses, and writing employee handbooks and accounting process manuals for clients. Maria has also devoted 20 years to freelance writing on the side, authoring the 3rd edition of the ‘Newcomer’s Handbook for Moving to and Living in Seattle,’ and numerous travel, business and career-related articles for local and national newspapers. She studied accounting and communications at the University of Washington, and majored in history at Armstrong State University in Georgia. Maria is an avid Trekkie and fan of bad science jokes, whose idea of bliss is to sit by a campfire deep in the woods with a sci-fi book, a cocktail and a plate of S’mores.
