The Institute for Systems Biology was co-founded in 2000 by Alan
Aderem, Ruedi Aebersold, and Leroy Hood. In just five years it has
grown to more than 170 staff members, including 11 faculty members and
their laboratory groups. This pioneering approach to the study of
biological systems takes place in the institute's 65,000-square-foot
facility in Seattle.

The Global Proteome Machine Organization was set up so that
scientists involved in proteomics using tandem mass spectrometry could
use that data to analyze proteomes. The projects supported by the GPMO
have been selected to improve the quality of analysis, make the results
portable and to provide a common platform for testing and validating
proteomics results. The GPM organization provides X! TandemTM as open
source software for matching tandem mass spectra with peptide sequences.

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center is a world leader in
research to
understand, treat and prevent cancer, HIV/AIDS and other
life-threatening diseases. Founding members of the center are credited
with pioneering bone-marrow transplantation as a successful treatment
for leukemia and other blood diseases.

FlowJoTM is like the Swiss army knife of Flow Cytometric
analysis
programs. It contains tools for all of the jobs you need to easily and
efficiently perform any type of data analysis from start to finish.

DataFaxTM (Fax based data collection) and iDataFaxTM
(EDC - electronic data
collection over the internet) are software products created by Clinical
DataFax Systems Inc. specifically for clinical trial data management.

ThermoFisher develops and markets software products that integrate
mass spectrometry into bioinformatics, including MascotTM,
a powerful search engine that uses mass spectrometry data to identify
proteins from primary sequence databases.

SEQUESTTM correlates uninterpreted tandem
mass spectra of
peptides with
amino acid sequences from protein and nucleotide databases. SEQUESTTM
will determine the amino acid sequence and thus the protein(s) and
organism(s) that correspond to the mass spectrum being analyzed.

5AM Solutions offers outsourced and on-site software development in
addition to soup-to-nuts software solutions that serve the business
needs of life science clients. They develop scalable software that
takes the form of components, web services, frameworks, and complete
custom systems.

Insilicos is developing new biomarkers with the potential to
revolutionize medicine, by providing better diagnoses of disease, and
by enabling development of new therapies. They are applying
pattern-recognition techniques to proteomics, with an initial focus is
diagnostics and drug research related to cardiovascular disease.

Biotrue's Collaborative Data Management System (CDMS) is a server based
software system for biomedical research laboratories that enables
scientists to easily store, manage and share all types of instrument
and analytical datafiles.
